Getting Ready for Your Mini Session

Tips to help your session go smoothly

  • The day of your session, make sure everyone is well rested, fed, and hydrated. I know our session time is close to dinner, so maybe a snack will be ideal. We don’t want anyone to be “hangry” or tired during the session.

  • Talk up your upcoming photo session with everyone! Tell the kids how much fun they will have, and even consider making it a special occasion. Positive reinforcement goes a long way.

  • A little bribery may also help get those smiles. If it is okay with you, I usually have some candy on hand for these types of situations (nut free). If you have special plans made for after, like maybe a local ice cream shop downtown, or a special dinner, let me know, and I will work that in there.

  • Trust the process. I know you want to get those smiling faces looking at the camera, and so do I! But if mom or dad are trying to get the child’s attention, then they aren’t paying attention to me. If I feel like I can’t get their attention without you, we will make a plan and work through it.

  • You should have received the address via email in your confirmation email. Please contact me if you need any additional information.

  • You can make this as casual as a Christmas pajamas session or as formal as black tie. No matter how you decide to dress, make sure you think of your family as an entire work of art. Complement/coordinate the colors and styles as you plan everything. It might be easiest to select one outfit first (usually I suggest mom) and build out from there. Shoes should complement the outfit. I suggest avoiding Crocs, flip flops, or any other pair of shoes that have seen a lot of wear-and-tear. If you need any suggestions, let me know! I’m happy to help.

  • Unfortunately, no animals are allowed in the studio except for service animals.

  • Absolutely! As long as time permits, I will gladly do some maternity photos for you.

  • Please plan on being at the studio 15 minutes before your scheduled time. This allows for you to be there and ready once your session time arrives. I want to make sure your session is a success!

  • You may sit on the porch or wait in your car. My assistant or I will come and get you once your session time is here. We will try to give you a heads up with a quick text to let you know we are coming to get you.

  • I hand edit all of the images presented in the galleries. Because of the amount of detail that goes into that, it can take up to 3 weeks.

  • Yes, absolutely! Your mini session comes with 3 complimentary photos. If you can’t narrow down your selection to just 3, you can purchase additional images. Each additional image is $25 plus tax.

  • I will send you a link to your online proofing gallery to select your digital images that are included in the collection you purchased. Once you have selected your images, you will receive a link to your final gallery for downloading.

  • I only offer limited mini sessions per year. If I am able to move you to another date and time, I will try to work with you. However, I cannot guarantee that this will be available if all the times available are taken.
